Recently, a couple got in touch with me via Etsy to request illustrated wedding invitations for their upcoming wedding in Nerja, Spain. They told me about the beautiful Plaza Balcon de Europa, an arched building, bedecked with flowers, with views across the sea. We decided together that this well-known location in Nerja would look perfect on their wedding stationery.
Sketches of Nerja
I set to work creating two different sketches for them to choose from. The first sketch showed the side of the building, including the pots of flowers along its white arches, as well as the colourful tiled floor of the Plaza. The second sketch was a close up view through two of the building's arches with the sea and distant landscape in the background, more graphic in nature than the first. Caoimhe and Padraig opted for the first sketch and I set to work creating it as an A3 collage.
Blue Skies or Sunset in Nerja
Once the main subject matter was made I created two different skyscapes for Caoimhe and Padraig to choose from. In the end they decided on the bright blue sky for their own invitations which looks bold and bright and inviting.
Ready-made Nerja Wedding Stationery
Once the design for Caoimhe and Padraig was complete I used both the sunset and blue-sky versions of the illustration to create two templates that can be used by other couples planning their wedding in Nerja. Both illustrations are available on save the dates, invitations, on-the day items such as menus and orders of service and as thank you cards. I've offered two different font styles and various text colours to choose from.
There's also the option the purchase a personalised Nerja print to commemorate your own wedding in Nerja or to give as a wedding gift to couples having a Nerja wedding. Customise the design with the names and date of your choosing, or choose completely different text altogether depending on who you're gifting it to and why.
